She is most famous for creating Bishoujo_Senshi_Sailor_Moon, which became one of the most popular and influential magical girl series of the 1990s. She incorporated quite a few of her personal experiences into the story of the series. In her youth, she wore sailor suits, the inspiration for the girls' magical girl outfits, when going to school and had also worked as a miko, much like Hino_Rei. She also named Usagi's family members after her own family members. She also wrote the lyrics for quite a few of the Sailor Moon related songs. She won the 17th Kodansha Manga Award for shoujo in 1993 for Sailor_Moon. She also won the 2nd Nakayoshi Comic Prize for Newcomers for Yume ja Nai no Ne in 1985. Despite the immense success of Sailor_Moon, her subsequent manga have been less successful and have often been suddenly discontinued. Nevertheless, Sailor_Moon remains a widely beloved franchise and has made her style quite recognizable.
