This was the first attempt ever by a model to inflate a hot water bottle by mouth, and the first test of our equipment using a hot water bottle. For many years, mouth-inflation of hot water bottles was the exclusive province of large male bodybuilders and sideshow performers, and video clips of this feat of strength often include wildly exaggerated claims of the air pressure required. Over time, a very few female bodybuilders added the trick to their repertoire, but when videos of more average-sized women began to appear, some questioned whether they were real or fake. The German TV show Galileo Fake Check took up the question, although their selection of hot water bottles left the viewer with the impression that the task is probably impossible for all but the most female bodybuilders. Given the appeal of hot water bottle blowing as the ultimate expression of the inflation fetish, we decided to do a bit more thorough research. Galas was accustomed to blowing very large balloons to bursting using nothing but her lung power, and was willing to try something new. While we wanted to see how much could be done by mouth, we also gave her the option of the foot pump for when she got tired. This video was shot in May of 2011, which was before we had the ability to record pressure-time graphs, or capture peak pressure measurements.
